Aztec Calendar, Who, What, When, Where, How, Why

- Who used the calendar? The calendar was used by the Aztecs and the pre-columbian people of central Mexico.
What was the calendar? The calendar was a large three foot thick, 12 foot across, and weighing almost 25 tones. Carved from basalt, a solidified lava. 
- When was the calendar used? The calendar was created in 1479. The first calendar was the, Xiuhpohualli, which means, the counting of years. This was a 365-day calendar.
There was also the Aztec's more sacred calendar, the Tonalpohualli. The rituals were divided up among the gods, because if you didn't, it would be considered unfair. This was a 260-day ritual cycle.
- Where did the Aztecs find the stuff to build this? The calendar was made from solidified lava, from a volcano.
- How was the calendar used? The calendar was used, to keep track of, mainly, when their religious festivals were, and when they correct day to honor their god was. The other calendar was used to track time.
- Why did they use this calendar? They needed something to keep track of when their religious festivals were, and what day it was.
