Middle Ages

For 4.1 i know close to nothing. so i would be at a 0.5 kinda deal here.

For 4.2 I know again, close to nothing, so, i have a pretty good chance of a -1.

For 4.3 I  know again, shocker, nothing!! Again a negative 4 for me.

I've never learned anything about any of these topics and i know nothing about them.

My learning goal is, to hopefully know much about these learning topics and be able to make a successful video.

Hadrian

• Son of  Publius Aelius Hadrianus Afer and Domitia Paulina
• A cousin of the emperor Trajan.
• Had a homosexual relationship with the youth Antinous. 

• Born in Italica, Hispania 

--Achievements--

• He built Hadrian's Wall to keep Northern Britian out.
• He shortened the borders, to help protect his city.

--Cause Of Death--

  

• He died an unpopular man. He died the natural way though, in his villa, a hated man. 

--Historical Significance--

• He built Hadrian's Wall.

Spartacus

1. WHO was Spartacus?
2. WHAT did he do?
3. WHY did he do it?

7. WAS HE A HERO OR A VILLAIN

1) Spartacus was a gladiator. He was also one of the slave leaders in the Third Seville War.

2) He started a revolt with 74 other gladiators from the gladiator school. (71-73 BC)

3) he did this as a fight for freedom.

4) it happened in about 71-73 BC.

5) It happened in Sicily the island off the coast of Italy. all over italy really. 

6) The slaves were crucified. Lots of people were crucified. A lot of people died.

7) He was a little of both. He is a hero to the slaves and to his army. But he killed a lot of people. To the Roman Army he was a villain.

Punic Wars.

1. Rome had many enemies. But during the Punic War, their main enemy was the Carthaginians. From Carthage in Northern Africa.
2.  It started because, Rome wanted to control all of the places, and so did Carthage. So they both wanted power Rome got it, eventually.
3. The second Punic war was in 218 BCE. The first was in, 264-241 BCE. They both took place, technically, on the ocean and land of Sicily. The First Punic war was over ownership of Sicily. The Second was over Rome wanting to gain control and be the main man. The third was over, Rome wanting control over Carthage. Hens, the end of Carthage.
4.Carthage was on the coast of Africa, so they had their Navy. Rome had a few islands and they controlled all of the actual part of Italy. They were a land based army.
5.  a) The Carthaginians built up a huge army in Spain, right before the second Punic War.
     b) Rome was beefing up their Navy.
     c) Hannibal, the Carthaginian leader, led the spanish to invade Italy by land.

7. Hannibal went through the land, when Rome was expecting them to go through their Navy. Scipio Africanus went into Africa and took Hannibal's power.
8. Carthage owed Rome bajillions of dollars. Rome gained Spain as an ally. They took control of them. Rome gained a lot of extra territory and now were dominant rulers. In 146 BCE Carthage fell, because they were besieged by Rome for 2 years.

What is a republic, and when, how, and why did Rome turn into one?

A republic is a way of government, where the people get to decide who rules their country, or state or whatever. In about 509 BC, the Kings son, Sextus, raped a married woman. Soon after she commited suicide, and her husband, Collatinus, and his friends, Brutus and Valerius, were enraged. They sought out to avenge her death. The three men carried Lucretia's body down to the forum, the town hall type place, so the whole town could see what happened. The town was furious and the three men went after the King Superbus (the proud), and his son, Sextus. The men found the king and his son, and the king fled. The son, was killed by Collatinus and Brutus, and shortly after Collatinus and Brutus were elected, by the city, to become the "presidents".
